Bech

I've been looking into some new techniques to bring down the creation time of my drawings.  To practice, I decided to draw 's character as a member of the Dayah Tribe.  I'd say the effort paid off; I managed this one in about 3 hours, instead of the usual 10 or more!  Of course, it doesn't have the little details that I usually work in, but that might enhance the composition.  What do you think?

Here is Joshua's story of this character.  He's not in the official Dayah storyline, but it made for some good drawing inspiration.  ^^
The character's name is Bech ("Vulture" in the Zapotec language) - an outsider of Zapotec lineage who came to the Dayah as an adult.  His name comes from the fact that, when he was born, ten vultures were seen circling the area.  He has strange memory-like recollections of vultures in his youth as well.  He does not have a deed name as most Dayah do, as he has not lived among them long enough to go through the rite of becoming a full member of the tribe.  However, for the linguistically curious, his full Aztec name is Mahtlactlionce (Eleven) Ozomahtli (Monkey) Cihuaoquichtzin (Feminine man).  He prefers that, but the Dayah find it hard to follow, so he simply goes by Bech.
Bech's make-up was painted by Fionnhuala Tedak Kayaan ( Ribbit! ), who was intrigued by Bech's stories of the god Tezcatlipoca.  The details of the paint may not fit the Aztec depictions, as she had never seen them, but her heart was in the right place.
His loincloth is more traditional to a Zapotec man.  However, since he has met Da'an Ukli Zhoni , Bech has also begun dressing in a Zapotec women's skirt.  The Dayah aren't familiar with the fashions of outsiders, so don't see anything unusual about this, but they have begun to notice that Bech acts differently, when he wears "the cloth with a back."  One day, perhaps, they will learn the truth: that Bach has a female psyche sharing space with his male persona - the product of a very hurtful past.  Perhaps, too, Bech will find the peace necessary to heal those wounds among the compassion of the Dayah.
