Description

"I was on my way to meet my old friend Jim Beam, when I heard a noise from down an alleyway.  Coulda been a cat, coulda been a possum - but I just had to look.  And there she was - some dame who had no business in this part of town, having words with a fella who seemed to have the upper hand in the conversation, if you know what I mean.
She had it coming.  A dame like that, who looked like the nastiest thing she'd seen this week was the bad milk in the fridge... she shoulda been here with a cop, or her gent, or some gorilla who wouldn't mind posin' behind that fancy red skirt for a cool twenty.  Instead, there she was with some low-life in a pork pie hat, bargaining for another fifteen minutes of air.
I shoulda kept walkin'.  Somethin' smelled bad, and it wasn't the bins at the end of the alley.  But a fella who sees a dame in trouble - even a dumb dame who ought to have known better - and keeps walkin...  Well, a fella like that ain't nobody I'd want to know.
Cripes.  It was gonna be a loooong night."

This is just a quick sketch on the back of a Savage Worlds character sheet.  I was going to drop it in scraps (fitting, really), but then I realized that I didn't yet have a pick of this bloke in my main gallery.

Burt Kowalski (a.k.a. Scrapper) is an OC (original character) of mine who has been around for awhile, but whom I typically only pick up for one-shot roleplay sessions.  He's appeared in such varied games as the above-mentioned Savage Worlds, Mutants & Masterminds, Fate and D20 Modern.  However, in all incarnations, he's a pulp-era vigilante (or sometimes soldier) who has a seemingly preternatural skill for combat.  He doesn't have any particular healing abilities, though, as you can see from his ugly mug.  Kowalski wasn't the most dapper gent to begin with, and he's seen a lot of city miles.
Scrapper would just as soon keep his head down and run his wrecking yard business, but his damned scruples keep getting in the way.  He just can't stand to see people roughing up ladies, taking what's not rightfully theirs or stepping on the underdog - and he can't seem to keep his mouth shut either.  Throughout his life, this propensity to open his yap has led to trouble.  Playground tussles led to back-alley brawls, and then to bar-room smash-ups - and each fight taught him a thing or two about how to handle himself in the next one.  There's always a bigger fish, though.  Eventually, he always seems to find himself in with the sharks - some protection racked, drug-kingpin or whatever - and decides it's time to can some tuna.
